MLGMA Leadership Legacy Program

A significant current issue of concern in the field of local government management is the graying and eventual retirement of the Baby Boomer generation and the apparent dearth of individuals in the pipeline for future replacement of these positions. Not meeting this demand could have serious implications to the foundation of professional management, the council-manager plan itself.
The MLGMA Leadership Legacy Program (MLLP) was created to encourage managers to participate in activities that protect and advance the profession in a meaningful way. It is designed to be a simple, self-administered program. Below is a list of categories with assigned points for each. As you perform any of these activities, you can record your credits. In order to qualify for advancement and then retention of the Legacy Leader designation, you will need to earn four points for each year. The MLLP achievements will be announced at the Winter Institute each year as well as promoted in MLGMA communications. You will receive quarterly reports on your credit status.
