How to Join the Listserv

 

The name of the MLGMA Listserv is managementforum@listserv.mml.org.  It is a confidential discussion list restricted to current and retired Professional members of MLGMA.  Please note that Associate members and Consultant members are not eligible to join the Listserv.

 

Before signing up, you should be familiar with e-mail lists.  If you are not, then please take the time to review the Introduction to E-mail lists.  You should also determine the e-mail address you want to use to receive listserv messages.  Finally, you should be aware that all messages you post to the listserv will be sent to every subscriber of the listserv.  Therefore, proper e-mail etiquette should be observed and any message that cannot be viewed by every subscriber should not be sent.

 

You can join and communicate with the Listserv by either e-mail or this web site.  The web site may be easier, but after joining it may be more convenient to communicate directly from your e-mail service.

After you have entered your e-mail address and your name, click on the join the list button. 
(Do not click on the join list button at the bottom of the screen -- otherwise, it will submit another request to join and an email will be generated for each additional time you click it). 
Don't worry about the settings at this point.  The defaults should be sufficient for most subscribers.  However, if you wish to change any of the defaults in the future, then please review the section on changing options in the subscriber's manual.

After you click on the "join the list" button, an e-mail will be sent to the e-mail address you entered.  This e-mail will require you to confirm your request to join the list.  Follow the directions in the e-mail to confirm your request.

Once you have confirmed your request, an e-mail will be sent to the List Manager who will then verify that you are a Professional member of MLGMA.  Following verification, the List Manager will confirm your request to join.  You will then receive an e-mail notifying you that you are a member of the list.

After you receive notification of your membership, you can then post messages using e-mail by addressing your message to managementforum@listserv.mml.org.  You can also post messages via the web by going to the Archives of Managementforum.

 

To sign up using e-mail, please do the following:

Create a new e-mail message and address it to  listserv@listserv.mml.org.

In the text portion of the email type in the following:

subscribe managementforum

If you are using an email address that does not identify you by name such as a hotmail.com, yahoo.com,  or aol.com account that uses letters and numbers in the prefix, then you should type in your first and last name after subscribe managementforum.  For example,

subscribe managementforum John Doe

Click send

After you send the request to subscribe, an e-mail will be sent to the e-mail address you used to send the request to subscribe.  This e-mail will require you to confirm your request to join the list.  Follow the directions in the e-mail to confirm your request.
